Over the years the programme has excelled and made remarkable contributions to the health sector in Malawi. The numerous achievements range from improved facilities for research , contribution towards change in different health policies as well as other research breakthroughs that have made history in the past and continue to be prominent today.

The journey to fighting the numerous diseases in Malawi and surrounding areas remains a continuous process and the future looks promising. Recognizing the tremendous job that has to be done, MLW has received funding from Wellcome Trust and other organisations to finance a number of other interventions. Some of which include: the establishment of a new Adult Emergency and Trauma Centre, the construction of new office space to pave way for more laboratory facilities, as well as training of more Malawian scientists and researchers.
